Synthetic GnRH, approved in the United States decades ago as Factrel for diagnostic use and as Lutrepulse for hypothalamic amenorrhoea. Neither is available as a human product in the United States now. Available from 12 vendors, priced from $20.00 to $120.00.
Research: Given in pulsatile doses, gonadorelin can restore cycling gonadotropin release in patients whose hypothalamus is not signalling. Its US human products are no longer marketed: a DailyMed search returns VETERINARY labels only, among them a Factrel injection from Zoetis approved under NADA 139-237 for ovarian follicular cysts in cattle.

Previously FDA-approvedDrugs@FDA records both United States human applications as Discontinued: Factrel, NDA 018123, gonadorelin hydrochloride injection, original approval 30 September 1982, now listed to Hikma; and Lutrepulse Kit, NDA 019687, gonadorelin acetate injection, original approval 10 October 1989, listed to Ferring. A Federal Register full-text search returned no notice withdrawing either approval, so no withdrawal date is claimed here. Compounded gonadorelin is not an FDA-approved product.
