Research: Fornaro et al, Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 2014 (PMID 24253050) tested MGF peptide at up to 500 ng/mL on mouse C2C12 myoblasts and on PRIMARY HUMAN skeletal muscle myoblasts. It failed to increase proliferation and failed to inhibit differentiation, and the authors concluded that their work calls into question whether there is a physiological role for MGF. Earlier work from the Goldspink laboratory reported the opposite, so the literature is genuinely contested. The 25% fibre-size figure and the stem-cell-lifespan claim that used to appear here had no locatable source and have been removed.
