Research: Two double-blind placebo-controlled Phase 3 trials, LIPO-010 (n=412) and CTR-1011 (n=404), measured visceral adipose tissue by CT at the L4-L5 level. Visceral fat fell 19.6% and 11.7% against placebo at week 26, and returned after treatment stopped. The endpoint is VISCERAL fat specifically, not subcutaneous fat and not overall abdominal size.
Side effects: From the Egrifta label: injection site reactions, arthralgia, peripheral edema, a warning on glucose intolerance and new-onset diabetes
